Featured is a view from the cliffs at Casparis. Casparis is a mountain area popular for horseback riding, hunting, and a host of other backcountry sports. The rugged mountain terrain is above South Connellsville and borders the Youghiogheny River, made up of both State Game Land and several tree farms. Its wild inhabitants include black bear, and deer. It is host to the Casparis Mines, which are limestone mines dug deep in the earth and stand 40 feet tall. As well as three to four story high cliffs like the one pictured above. Another feature in the area is the Opperman's cave, also known as Casparis cave, which has a tall waterfall deep inside of it. |
