Looking Southwest From the Pine Knob Overlook

Rising abruptly to around 2700 feet above Hopwood and distant Uniontown is Pine Knob with a significant rock outcropping at its summit offering a large vista overlooking the lowlands to the west. The overlook is accessible via the Pine Knob Trail leading from the Lick Hollow picnic area just off of route 40. Conditions were quite hazy in this picture, but the farm country of Smithfield can be seen in the upper right corner. Mountain Laurel abounds along Pine Knob’s summit.
