Looking west from the Laurel Mountain Ski Resort, on top of Laurel Ridge in eastern most Westmoreland County. The view of the low lands, and Pittsburgh's Skyscrapers, is blocked by the northern end of Chestnut Ridge, here little more than a hill compared to its impressive heights to the south in Fayette County. Laurel Ridge here is also less impressive at the point Route 30 cuts over it, not reaching the heights like it does to the south near Seven Springs Ski Resort.
