Mt. Pleasant Depot

Read all about it!!! Mt. Pleasant and Scottdale in fear of possible rebel invasion!! Townspeople trying to organize local militia!! Request cannons and mortars from the 11th Pennsylvania Regiment!!

A Treasures Along the Rail Exclusive:

Rumours abound locally that Rebel forces will use General Braddock's old French/Indian War Maps if Pittsburgh is selected for invasion. One possible route through the mountains is Pike 31 which goes right through the heart of Mt. Pleasant! That and the railroad passenger stop many feel, makes the town the likely target for a major conflict. In addition, the Scottdale - Mt. Pleasant Road would permit Scottdale town defenses to be outflanked by Southern Forces unless artillery is available. "The most likely time for this will be August 15-17th" say military experts in a secret railroad communique seen by this magazine's publisher. "We feel Lee's forces will not be ready until then," it added.
