Borough of South Connellsville

In 1911 the Borough of South Connellsville was incorporated and council held its first meeting in January of 1912. The meetings were held in the old borough building on Richie Alley until the present building was built in 1957. The following is part of the South Connellsville Borough Charter of incorporation and the people who endorsed it.
In the matter of the incorporation of South Connellsville Borough, in the Court of Quarter Sessions of Fayette County, Pennsylvania, No. Sess., 1909. The petition of the undersigned, resident-freeholders of the town of South Connellsville in the Township of Connellsville, County of Fayette, and state aforesaid, respectfully represents:-That the said town of South Connellsville contains a regular plan in regard to street and lanes, and that the petitioners reside within the limits thereof as hereinafter set forth and described, and that the same contains a number of freeholders, not exceeding however 240. That they are desirious that the said town of South Connellsville shall be incorporated by the style and title of "The Borough of South Connellsville."
