Cedar Creek Park is the premiere access point to the Youghiogheny River Trail for Westmoreland County residents. This walking and biking trail, which is part of the regional trail system planned to link Washington D.C. with Pittsburgh, passes directly through the Manderino Riverfront portion of the park.

Picnic pavilions, athletic fields, and scenic play areas are just a few of the many reasons why Cedar Creek Park is always heavily visited. One of the more unique features within Cedar Creek Park’s 464 acres is a spectacular deep gorge cut by Cedar Creek in the northern section of the park. A walk along the gorge trail provides a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape.

Park Facilities Include

  • Amphitheater. For your entertainment, Cedar Creek Park has a beautiful outdoor amphitheater that accommodates crowds up to 2,500 persons. A free Sunday concert series is presented every summer at the amphitheater.

  • Manderino Riverfront Park. The Youghiogheny River makes up the northern park boundary, offering excellent fishing, canoeing, and bicycling. Manderino River Front Park offers river access, a boat launch, picnic areas, and a bicycle rental/food concession area.

  • Youghiogheny River Trail. This hiking, biking, cross country skiing and equestrian trail follows the Youghiogheny River and passes directly through Cedar Creek Park. The Trail is now complete from Cedar Creek north to McKeesport in Allegheny County, approximately 21 miles, and south to Meyersdale, approximately 79 miles. There is ample parking and the trail is handicapped accessible.

  • Bicycle Rentals and Food Concession. Located between the Youghiogheny River and the Biking and Hiking Trails, Cedar Creek Station is open April through October. Bicycle rentals are $4/hour. Call 724-930-7004 for more information.

  • Cedar Creek Gorge. Water cascades down the natural shale steps in this deep gorge cut out by Cedar Creek in the northern section of the Park.

  • Sport Fields. Ball fields and Soccer fields are available at the park. Call 724-830-3950 for information on field use.

  • Model Radio Controlled Airfield. The Mon-Yough Model Airplane Club operates out of Cedar Creek Park; and, on most any day, you can observe these diminutive aircraft performing.

  • Other Facilities. Park facilities include playground equipment, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, toboggan and sled riding areas.

  • Hunting. Portions of the Park are open for hunting.

Pavilions

Cedar Creek Park has 19 pavilions located throughout the Park, which accommodate groups of up to 500. For more information, call 724-830-3950.
